Endorsements for Shannon Dean

I have had the pleasure of working with Shannon Dean for nearly ten years on various events including The Country Fair, Family Fun Fair, That Winter Thing and Bulls on the Beach. One of the things that I appreciate about working with Shannon is how he continually steps up to fill the gaps. Whether it be counting 50/50 tickets, cleaning up garbage, bringing supplies to volunteers, problem solving a situation with staff or volunteers at events, setting up or tearing down events, Shannon consistently steps in and demonstrates leadership and commitment to the event. For  the past 7 months, Shannon has been assisting with writing grants for the Rocky View Chestermere Agricultural Society and has brought in over $80 000. I have always known Shannon to be committed to this community and look forward to him leading our city forward as Mayor. 

I wholeheartedly endorse Shannon Dean to be our next mayor of Chestermere. His commitment to growing the social fabric of our community is second to none. Shannon’s qualifications speak for themselves. He is involved at the grass roots level of our community and because of that he

has a holistic understanding of our unique community needs. I know with Shannon leading our community we can address many of the challenges we are facing today for a brighter future for all tomorrow.

Senior’s Task Force, 1 year collaborative, to look at the needs of seniors in our community from

a Housing, Health and Social Service perspective. I have had the pleasure of working with him when he was Director of the Camp with many events: Family Fun Fair, Kids Holiday Store, private events, multiple years.

I have had the opportunity to collaborate with Shannon as Councillor for City of Chestermere with the Senior’s Advisory Committee and the NFP’s. Shannon has always been easy to connect with, honest, and community oriented. His commitment to his community is outstanding.

I have had the privilege of knowing Shannon for over 10 years and have witnessed firsthand his unwavering commitment to improving the lives of those around them. Shannon has always volunteered with no political affiliation to events that I have  produced in the City of Chestermere. This includes Hockey Marathon for the Kids, Anti-Bully Bike Ride and the Tim Horton’s Western Canada Pond Hockey Championships. One thing that I notice is that Shannon is there as a resident not as a councilman and has never brought up any political aspirations during these events. In fact, quite the opposite, recently we just held the Hockey Marathon for the Kids and Shannon I would see talking to folks he knew. When I mentioned to him about his candidacy he said, “this is not the time nor the place to discuss this. I’m here to help the event and help the children that need us the most.”

This sense of not only being humble but truly caring about his community is a testimony to what I feel should be taken into consideration for him running for Mayor. In addition to his impressive qualifications, Shannon has a genuine passion for serving the community and a proven track record of bringing people together to achieve common goals. He possess the vision, integrity, and empathy needed to navigate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for the city. Mr. Dean has asked me to support his campaign for Mayor of the City of Chestermere and I am pleased to confirm that I am happy to do so. I served with Shannon as a board member on the Chestermere Chamber of Commerce from 2019 to 2021 in which times Shannon served as a director and subsequently President. Under Shannon’s leadership, the Chamber

supported local businesses with a variety of initiatives including accessing resources for and aiding business owners with writing COVID grants; hosting virtual lunch and learn sessions with relevant COVID related content, and consolidating information from various sources to be distributed to the membership. Shannon demonstrated confident leadership skills and guided the Chamber with compassion and enthusiasm. His belief in the supporting the local business community was evident in the tireless  ours of volunteer community service he provided. Mr. Dean led the board with a  collaborative approach, ensuring that all voices were heard, and contributions valued.
